Default How can you guarantee trades between pre and post?

I just had a good 4thyear birthday in pre and got a gold Dagnar Stonepate.
I got an offer of selling him for 70e in post.Sounded very generous, and I started asking the buyer how we could make sure both ends of the trade could be fulfilled.
Then he just disappered, maybe it was a scam attempt, I dunno.
But suppose I was ready so sell him for 70e or 7e or something to be delivered in post, how should i proceed?

I'm not sure if they still do, but it used to be that trades could be helped through gwg moderators. Not just anyone with green text, but a genuine mod. You could look in to that.

get a VERY trusted friend (recommending one you know in real life if you have any friends that play) to create a pre-searing character and use it to transfer the item to your other character in post-searing.

The point is for the item to remain in pre. The buyer wants the mini on his pre character. The seller wants post-searing gold (or ectos) for it.

So there need to be at least two trades: the seller giving the buyer the mini in pre, then they both switch to post, and the buyer gives the seller the money in post.

Like shadowfall said, going through a gwg moderator is a good idea. Also, go to presearing.com; my understanding is that they have trusted moderators who can act as a third party in this kind of thing. Someone who knows more about the site and the presearing community should be able to elaborate.

I second this suggestion. And although I've never done such a trade myself, I would advise screenshotting the transaction(s), saving copies of the set-up correspondence, and conducting plenty of in-game chat with those you are trading with and who are facilitating the trade. It would suck to get caught in a false RMT flag because of uneven trades.

Use a trusted middleman from presearing.com - for example T I T A N, and nothing will go wrong

Yes, if you have the chance then use a trusted middle man. Be sure to tip them for their troubles

In any case I could help you as a middle man. I have a 3 year old account on Guru and a level 18 in pre, I wouldn't risk my reputation for some virtual pixels
If so PM me with your ingame name.

In any case just take a lot of screenshots during the trades,
not sure how much they would help in an actual disput but it would be better than nothing.

I would say move bits and pieces at a time. Say you're looking to move 20 black dyes to post from pre-searing. Don't hand them all off at once. If your trade partner is really looking to help you out, they won't mind a couple extra trips.

Nonono - never again.

We used to do that, back in the early stages of the games life. You can probably guess that it didn't take the scammers long to work it out and start impersonating Guru moderators.

That was a mess
